ASIAM

The School of the Holy Spirit were delighted to be asked to host an ASIAM event as part of Autism Awareness Month on April 3rd. Yvonne Newbold was the guest speaker and she talked about how to effectively advocate for your child. She gave some really sound advice and practical tips. There was a great turn out and the feedback was very positive.

ELEANOR WALSH VISITS SOHS

Recently, the senior end of the school was given a talk by Eleanor Walsh, a past pupil of the school, sharing with us her experience with ASD diagnosis and University life. Eleanor discussed her own experience of having ASD, as well as sharing helpful advice about the modern disability services in universities like in Maynooth and DCU. Having persued a course in performing arts, Eleanor Walsh is now a member of Irish charity and organisation, AsIAm. It was a great help to have Eleanor visit the school to discuss with us during these imoortant times of our lives as teenagers and adolescents reaching closely into adulthood, and we couldn’t be more grateful to have her come visit to share her experience as well as her own advice. With great thanks.
