Ten events you may not know took place in November.

10. The 24th of November may seem like an irrelevant day to you but actually on that day in 1991 the singer of the legendary rock band Queen Freddie Mercury died of Aids related pneumonia at the age of 45.
9. On the 7th of November 1990 history was made in Ireland when Mary Robinson was elected the first female president of Ireland beating Brian Lenihan with 51.9% of the votes to Lenihan’s 46.5%.
8. You may not have heard of Nancy Astor but she was a pivotal figure in British politics in the early 20th century she was the second woman to be elected to paraliment but she was the first to take her seat (she was elected on November 28th.)
7. World war 1 was a horrific time in the world with millions left dead by the end of it but on the 11th of November at 11:am a ceasefire was officially issued and the war ended.
6. The Berlin wall was a sad time in German history dividing the city of Berlin into east and west but on the 9th of November 1989 a spokesperson for the east Berlin communist party announced that at midnight that day people were free to cross the border.
5. The death of American president John F. Kennedy is a tragic one which is still talked about today on the 22nd of November Kennedy was riding in an open top car in Dealey plaza in Texas when he was shot and killed by Lee Harvey Oswald.
4. On the 25th of November 1984 a supergroup of musicians organised by Irish singer Bob Geldof gathered in S.a.r.m studios in Notting hill west London to record the charity song “Do they know it’s Christmas time?”with all proceedings going to anti-famine efforts in Ethiopia.
3. On the 20th of November 1947 Princess Elizabeth (now Queen Elizabeth II) married her cousin Lieutenant Phillip Mountbatten at Westminster Abbey.
2. On the 5th of November 1605 Guy Fawkes was arrested under the house of paraliment after his plan to kill the king was uncovered. On the 31st of January 1606 he was hanged.

On the 22nd of November 1968 legendary band “The Beatles” released their self titled album more commonly known as “The White Album” due to it’s bland white cover. “The White Album” is considered one of The Beatle’s finest work incorporating countless genres including but not limited to: Rock and roll’ Hard Rock, Blues rock, country music and avant garde.
